The ChordKits Ocean window: a sphere over blue light waves, four macro dials, a four-by-four pad grid, a filter display and a chromatic keyboard.

The first ChordKit

Sixteen sounds in a four-by-four grid. Four layers, four chord positions, played from pads or keys. A software instrument for macOS and Windows.

A kit is sixteen sounds that already agree with each other.

Each row is a layer. Bass holds the bottom. Chords carry the harmony. Sound A and Sound B colour it. Each column is a chord position, so the four pads in a column are always in the same chord.

Play a column and you get a full arrangement. Play across a row and the progression moves. Change the key and every pad follows.

Click a pad to hear the real kit. On a keyboard, 1 to 4 play whole columns, Q W E R play the bass row.

Ocean inside Ableton Live, played from a pad controller. With sound.

One instrument. A series of kits.

Every ChordKit is its own plugin with its own sounds and its own face. Ocean is out now. The rest are being made, one at a time.

Under the pads.

A sampler changes a sound's length when it changes its pitch. ChordKits doesn't have to.

Transpose

Re-rendered ahead of time

Move transpose and every sample is rendered again at the new pitch in the background, then swapped in. Nothing in the audio path is a pitch shifter, so there's no added latency and no per-note cost. Twelve semitones either way.

Chromatic and Warp

Any pad becomes an instrument

Chromatic mode plays one pad across the keyboard. With Warp on, the pitch changes and the length doesn't. Warp Speed then stretches a sound from a quarter of its length to four times, still pitch locked.

Root note

It listens for the root itself

Samples carry no note metadata. ChordKits reads each one and finds the fundamental, so chromatic mode is in tune without you typing a thing.

Built to be played, not configured.

The whole instrument responds in a bar. The deeper controls are there when you want them and out of the way when you don't. Every clip loops quietly. Click one to hear it.

Macros

Four dials shape the whole kit

Each macro moves several parameters at once, tuned for this kit. Ocean's are Depth, Current, Swell and Mist.

Effects

A full effects stage after the mix

Filter, plate reverb, tape delay, stereo delay, chorus, flanger, and a filter LFO. All global, post-mix, safe to automate.

Pad FX

Four ways to treat a single pad

Mixer

Each layer has its own channel

Level and drive per layer, plus sends to reverb, delay, chorus and flanger.

Play it from

Pads, keys, or the keyboard you type on

Pad mode, a chromatic keyboard, and the computer keyboard all play the same kit. Any knob learns a MIDI controller in one move.

Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, and any host that loads VST3 or Audio Units. Or open it on its own.
